Fetch
is a colourful picture book, the story of a lost dog who manages to find friends and create a family. Jane Cabrera is also author of The Polar Bear and The Snow Cloud which we read
recently and several others. The illustrations are as entertaining as the story, with a few extra jokes along the way. Linus was quite pleased with this book.

Stanley's Stick is one of our favourites. The last bedtime read was
here.
Looking online there is a page of
activity sheets for Stanley's Stick, illustrator Neal Layton has his own blog
here and author John Hegley's website is
here. In the book "Stanley blurts out a tune for Bertie", my rendition of this tune amuses Linus.

So, every night we read two books and then sing On The Ning Nang Nong, Linus usually requests it. Tonight he just requested the third book, no Ning Nang Nong, I was beginning to feel redundant.
The third book was the rather wonderful
The Hueys in The New Jumper
by Oliver Jeffers. The Hueys are a colony of simple looking people. They all happen to conform to look the same, all except Rupert who decides to knit himself a new jumper. Soon enough everyone wants one, what can Rupert then do to be different? The illustrations are typical Jeffers and have far more to find in them than would initially appear. This is a great coffee table book, especially when you invite people round. If anyone doesn't like it you don't have to be friends with them any more!
